Scope
This standard specifies the conceptual data model, logical data structure and physical encoding format of the navigation geographic database. It gives the possible contents (elements, attributes and relations) of the database, and explains how to express these contents and how to define metadata. This standard focuses on describing roads and road-related information, and also includes other relevant information required by intelligent transportation system (ITS) applications, such as: Example 1: ITS applications need to use address system information to describe locations and/or destinations. Therefore, this standard regards information such as administrative divisions and postal divisions as one of the important contents. Example 2: Map display is an important part of ITS applications. In order to improve the map expression effect, this standard includes land cover, water body cover and other information. Example 3: The point of interest or service information is an important content that travelers pay attention to, and this standard describes it. Typical areas of application of this standard are in-vehicle and portable navigation systems, traffic management centers or services related to road management systems (such as public transport systems, etc.). This standard applies to ITS applications and services. The conceptual data model is not only applicable to ITS applications, but also applicable to other related applications. Conceptual models are application-independent and can be integrated with other geodatabase standards. This standard only stipulates the representation method of geographic data, and does not involve the specific content of the data. In the process of using this standard, if the content of the electronic map data used by the user conflicts with the national map confidentiality principle, the national map data confidentiality principle should first be followed.
