Scope
These Requirements cover horizontal and vertical stationary steel tanks of the cylindrical@ nonpressure type that are intended for the storage aboveground@ outside of buildings@ of flammable liquids such as gasoline@ fuel oil@ and similar products. Their installation is covered by the Standards of the National Board of Fire Underwriters for the Installation of Containers for Storing and Handling Flammable Liquids (NBFU Pamphlet No. 30). These tanks are of sizes that can be fabricated@ inspected@ and tested for leakage before shipment from the factory as a. complete vessel. These Requirements do not cover field-erected tanks of the larger capacities referred to in NBFU Pamphlet No. 30.
