1. PURPOSE 1.1 This method makes it possible to determine the tear resistance of woven and non-woven fabrics using the trapezoidal method. 1.2 Two methods are explained for calculating tear strength, one for wovens and the other for non-wovens. The two methods will not usually give the same results. 1.3 Testing and evaluating a product against this method may require the use of materials or equipment that may be hazardous. This document does not intend to cover all aspects related to the safety of its use. It is up to the user of the method to obtain information from the competent authorities and to adopt health and safety practices in accordance with the regulations in force before using it.
