Purpose This method makes it possible to determine the tear resistance of woven and non-woven fabrics using the trapezoidal method. Two methods are explained for calculating tear strength, one for wovens and the other for nonwovens. The two methods do not usually give the same result. Testing and evaluating a product against this method may require the use of materials or equipment that may be hazardous. This method does not intend to address all aspects related to the safety of its use. It is up to the user of the method to obtain information from the competent authorities and to adopt health and safety practices in accordance with applicable regulations before using it. Furthermore, when tests are carried out, ONGC does not assume or accept any responsibility for injuries or damages that may occur during or as a result of the tests.
