This standard specifies the test method for thermal expansion of road vehicle brake lining disc brake pads, including hot plate method and oven method. It is applicable to molded or bonded disc brake pads with solid backing plate with a width not exceeding $120~\mathrm{mm}$, a height not exceeding $80~\mathrm{mm}$, and a thickness not exceeding $20~\mathrm{mm}$.
GB/T 22310-2023 replaces GB/T22310-2008. The main technical changes include:
Project | Hot plate method | Oven method |
---|---|---|
Scope of application | Applicable to measuring the dynamic change of the thermal expansion of disc brake pads. | Applicable to measuring the static dimensional change and temperature relationship of disc brake pads after heating. |
Test equipment | Hard electric heating plate with a height of $80~\mathrm{mm}$, a width of $170~\mathrm{mm}$, and a thickness of $40~\mathrm{mm}$, equipped with fixtures and measuring devices. | Oven with circulating air, thickness gauge or micrometer with an accuracy of not less than $0.02\mathrm{mm}$. |
Test steps | Includes heating, cooling and measuring processes, which must be repeated twice to ensure data accuracy. | Includes expansion and growth tests, as well as dimensional stability tests, which must be conducted at room temperature. |
Growth: Permanent change in the external dimensions of a friction material when it is cooled to room temperature after undergoing high temperature cycles.
Swell: Temporary change in the external dimensions of a friction material when it is exposed to elevated temperatures.
To ensure the effectiveness and consistency of the test method, it is recommended that:
