- This standard specifies the product classification, technical requirements, test methods, inspection rules and markings, packaging, transportation and storage of softness testers. This standard is applicable to softness testers (hereinafter referred to as "softness testers") for softness testing of materials such as high- and mid-range toilet paper and tobacco sheets. Periodic technical status inspections during use of the softness tester should also be used with reference.
