- This part specifies each stage in the production process of computer software important to the safety of nuclear power plants (including development, design, verification, validation and operation) and the documentation in each stage for preventing common cause failures caused by software and the use of software tools. and the basic requirements for the use of pre-development software and the principles that should be followed. This section applies to the prevention of common cause failures caused by software, the use of software tools and the use of pre-developed software in the production process of computer software used to perform safety functions in nuclear power plant safety systems, and the data preparation and confirmation involved.
