- This standard uses metallographic methods to examine the matrix structure, porosity, graphite and other elements of powder metallurgy friction materials. This standard applies to the metallographic inspection, analysis and identification of the 10 brands of sintered metal friction materials listed in Appendix A. For other sintered metal materials, please refer to this method. The metallographic pictures in Appendix B serve as a reference for the metallographic evaluation of the ten types of materials mentioned above.
