- This standard specifies the basic dimensions and tolerances affecting the interchangeability of flywheels with spring-loaded single- or twin-disc clutches. This flywheel train is used in reciprocating internal combustion engines and flywheel housings and clutch housings involved in ISO 7648 and ISO 7649. Note 1: The standard names of ISO 7648 and ISO 7649 are shown in Appendix A (Appendix of Prompt). Dimensions and tolerances not specified in this standard are left to the discretion of the component manufacturer. This standard applies to reciprocating internal combustion engines, but does not include aviation and passenger car engines. This standard can also be used for engines with other uses for which there are no specific international standards. Note 2: It should be recognized that the dimensions shown in this standard may not necessarily apply to some structures currently in use, but should be used as a measure to rationalize all new designs in the future.
