- This standard specifies the technical requirements, test methods, inspection rules and marking, packaging, transportation and storage of locomotive relays. This standard applies to relays for various protection, control and measurement purposes in railway electric locomotives, diesel locomotives, and electric multiplex circuits, auxiliary circuits, and control circuits. This standard does not apply to relays used in communication signaling systems on railway locomotives. When other standard relay products are used as locomotive relays (hereinafter referred to as relays), they should be verified according to this standard based on the parameters required for actual use.
