- 1.1 This standard specifies the main performance parameters, technical requirements and calibration methods of hydrophones that use piezoelectric sensing elements to measure pulsed or continuous wave ultrasonic fields generated by medical ultrasound equipment in water in the frequency range of 0.5 to 10 MHz. 1.2 The hydrophone to which this standard applies is an underwater acoustic receiver with known sensitivity and high-frequency wide-band frequency response. It consists of a disc-shaped piezoelectric sensing element, acoustic structural parts, housing, cables and plugs. There are two main structures formed: needle-shaped and film-shaped.
