- Flexible intermediate bulk containers (FIBCs) according to this standard are manufactured from materials as defined in type test certificate for example extra strong plastic fabric, fabric-reinforced plastic or the like and can be fitted with an inner liner of plastic film. The properties of the sack material can be modified with the aid of suitable additives to improve the resistance of the material against, for example, decomposition by heat and sunlight and to reduce the effects of static electricity. The standard specifies the requirements for design type approval. FIBCs may not be used for hazardous goods except they comply to the special requirements of all competent and relevant authorities. 1.1 Definition Heavy duty multi-trip FIBC A FIBC designed and intended to be used for a multitude of fillings and discharges. A FIBC of this category may be both field and factory repairable.
