This standard specifies the performance requirements for energy spectrum type neutron ambient dose equivalent (rate) instruments, including general characteristics, radiation characteristics, electrical characteristics, mechanical characteristics, safety characteristics, environmental characteristics, as well as test methods and inspection certificate requirements, etc. This standard is applicable to instruments that calculate the ambient dose equivalent (rate) generated by neutron radiation by measuring the neutron energy-fluence spectrum in the energy range of 0.0253eV (thermal neutron) ~ 20 MeV. This standard gives general requirements for energy spectrum type neutron ambient dose equivalent (rate) instruments. For some devices with special purposes, manufacturers and users are allowed to negotiate, but the method for determining device performance should comply with this standard. This standard does not specify performance test methods for devices in pulsed radiation fields, so it cannot be determined whether devices designed to meet this standard are suitable for pulsed radiation fields.
