Scope

This International Standard specifies the characteristics of automatic and non-automatic mooring winches, with electric, hydraulic or steam drive, which fulfil the functions of manoeuvring, holding and storing mooring ropes on a single drum. Such winches may also be used for warping purposes. The functions of mooring winches covered by this International Standard are illustrated in table 1.
