Scope

This International Standard specifies a series of graphic symbols commonly used for marking shipping packaging during physical distribution of goods to provide handling instructions. The graphic symbols should only be used when necessary. This International Standard applies to packaging containing goods of any kind, but does not contain specific instructions for the handling of dangerous goods.
