This part of ISO 4254 specifies safety requirements and their verification for the design and construction of self-propelled, operator-operated and mounted, semi-mounted or towed agricultural machines used in agriculture, in order to address the hazards typical of most of these machines are. In addition, it specifies what information on safe operation (including residual risks) must be provided by the manufacturer. This document deals with significant hazards, hazardous situations and hazardous events that are relevant to these agricultural machines when they are used as intended and in the event of misuse foreseeable by the manufacturer as part of normal operation and service work. This part of ISO 4254 does not apply to agricultural or forestry tractors, agricultural aircraft and hovercraft, lawn and garden equipment and machine-specific components or functions, e.g. B. Work tools and/or processes. This part of ISO 4254 does not apply to hazards related to regular service work, machine conversions, repair work to be carried out by specialist service personnel, the environment, road traffic (e.g. steering, braking) or cardan shafts; It also does not apply to protective devices for moving parts of the power transmission, with the exception of the strength requirements for protective devices and deflector bars. This part of ISO 4254 does not apply to machines manufactured before the publication date. The hazards covered in this part of ISO 4254 are not all necessarily present on a specific machine. The manufacturer should carry out a risk assessment to identify the applicable hazards and those hazards that are relevant in addition to those covered by this part or relevant machine-specific parts. The requirements of a machine-specific part of ISO 4254 take precedence over the provisions of this part.
