EN ISO 17634:2015 Welding consumables - Tubular cored electrodes for gas shielded metal arc welding of creep-resisting steels - Classification (ISO 17634:2015)
This International Standard specifies requirements for the classification of cored wire electrodes used for gas metal arc welding of heat-resistant steels and elevated temperature low-alloy steels after post-weld heat treatment. A cored wire electrode can be tested and classified with different protective gases. This International Standard uses a classification system based on the chemical composition of the pure weld metal or on the tensile strength and chemical composition of the pure weld metal. 1) Clauses and tables with the additional letter "A" are applicable only to cored wire electrodes classified according to the system based on the chemical composition of the pure weld metal according to this International Standard, with yield strength and average impact strength requirements of 47 J. 2) Clauses and tables with the additional letter "B" are applicable only to cored wire electrodes classified according to the system based on the tensile strength and chemical composition of the pure weld metal according to this International Standard. 3) Sections and tables without the additional letter "A" or "B" are applicable to all cored wire electrodes classified according to this International Standard. It is known that the welding properties of cored wire electrodes can be affected by the application of pulsating current, but pulsed current is not intended for determining electrode classification in this International Standard.
