Scope
This International Standard describes an index test method for determining the tensile properties of geosynthetics (plastics, glass and metal) using a wide strip. This International Standard is applicable to most geosynthetics, including geofabrics, geononwovens, geocomposites, geoknits, geonets, geomats and metallic products. It is also applicable to geogrids and similar open structured geotextiles, however it may be necessary to change the measurement sample dimensions. It does not apply to plastic or bituminous geosynthetic geomembranes, while it is applicable to clay geosynthetic geomembranes. This International Standard specifies a tensile test method that includes the measurement of force-strain properties and includes methods for calculating the secant stiffness, the maximum force per unit width and the elongation at the maximum tensile force. Individual points of the force-strain curve are also indicated. Methods for measuring the tensile properties of both ambient and wet samples are included in this International Standard.
