This International Standard specifies test methods for soft-resilient and semi-rigid polyethylene foams. Foams containing ethylene copolymers or blends of polymers with polyethylene may also be tested according to the methods of this International Standard, provided that these materials have similar properties to polyethylene according to ISO 1872-1 or ethylene copolymers according to ISO 4613-1. Section 7 specifies mandatory test methods suitable for the characterization of polyethylene foams without taking the application into account. Section 8 describes the optional test methods for determining properties that relate to specific areas of application.
