This standard specifies a method for determining the shear stability of polymer-containing oils, using an ultrasonic shear instrument to determine the permanent loss of kinematic vis osity of polymer-containing oils. This standard is suitable for predicting the continuity of shear stability of oils under the condition that the base oil or polymer does not change, but it is not used to predict the shear stability of polymer-containing oils in actual use. This standard applies to the specification requirements for polymer additives, especially in the field of hydraulic oils.
