The goal of the statistical theory of extreme values is to analyze observed extremes and predict further extremes. The extrema are not fixed, but are new statistical quantities that depend on the initial distribution and the sample size. However, certain results are distribution-free.*The guideline is intended to represent, under certain conditions, the distributions of extremal sample elements and some of their applications. The distributions of the extreme values are derived from given initial distributions, exactly under independence conditions for small samples, and asymptotically for large samples under the additional condition of the so-called stability postulate.*www.vdi.de/4009
