The guideline provides a summary of most commonly used methods of hardness testing for use on metallic materials. The individual methods are each described briefly. The supplementary information includes references to exceptional features of the methods and the advantages and disadvantages of the methods are also described. It supplements the existing standards covering hardness tests on metals.
