- The document is intended to give a total overview of the possibilities for marking material units or handling devics using identification carriers, as well as the coding and reading technology for material handling control. Part 2 describes an active identification system with local data storage. It give an overview of the components and functional principles of the mobile data memory (MDS) identification system in material handling technology. Only programmable systems with the possibility of contactless changes to data content are taken into consideration. Fixed programme data carriers, the information capacity of which comprises an unchangeable code, will be covered as necessary in a subsequent part.
