Scope
This standard specifies two methods for determining the curing properties of fiber reinforced thermosetting molding compounds and prepregs. The characteristic parameters to be measured are as follows: - heat generated by the exothermic reaction; - thermal expansion of the molding compound as the temperature rises; - shrinkage caused by the curing reaction. This method is applicable to molding compounds composed of thermosetting resins and reinforcing fibers, and is mainly used in unsaturated polyester resin molding compounds. Method 1: An easy way to determine the reactivity of thermosetting molding compounds. This method is only used to determine the reaction characteristics and stability of the molding compound matrix, and the stability affects the storage period of the molding compound. Method 2: The physical properties of the molding compound under simulated molding conditions can be obtained, but more complex equipment and longer testing time are required. The prepared molded test pieces can be used for more performance tests.
