The time-of-flight spectrometer is suitable for measuring the size distribution of aerosol particles and for determining their number concentration. The instrument determines the time-of-flight of particles, which is unambigously associated with the relaxation time and the aerodynamic diameter of the particles, in an accelerated carrier-gas flow field.
