DIN EN ISO 14689:2018 Geotechnical investigation and testing - Identification, description and classification of rock (ISO 14689:2017); German version EN ISO 14689:2018
This standard relates to the identification and the description of rock material and mass on the basis of mineralogical composition, predominant grain size, genetic groups, discontinuities, structure and other components. The standard also provides rules for the description of other characteristics as well as for their designation. The standard applies to the description of rock for geotechnics in civil engineering. The description is carried out on cores and other samples of natural rock and on rock masses. Identification and classification of soil for engineering purposes is covered in ISO 14688-1 and ISO 14688-2.
