Scope: This part of GB/T 3785 specifies the periodic test procedures for the design of time-weighted sound level meters, integral average sound level meters and integral sound level meters that meet the requirements of IEC 61672-1 for Class 1 and Class 2 specifications. Its purpose is to ensure that all laboratories use a consistent method for periodic testing. The purpose of the periodic test is to demonstrate to the user that the performance of the sound level meter meets the applicable specifications of IEC 61672-1 for a limited set of critical tests and under the environmental conditions in which the tests are carried out. The scope of tests in this standard is deliberately limited to the minimum necessary for periodic testing. This section applies to sound level meters that the manufacturer claims to comply with the second edition of IEC 61672-1. The periodic test in this section is also applicable to sound level meters whose models have been or have not been type-approved by an independent testing agency in accordance with the test procedures of the second edition of IEC 61672-2. Due to the limited scope of the periodic test, if the evidence of the type evaluation cannot be publicly obtained, even if the results of the periodic test meet all the applicable requirements of this edition of IEC 61672-3, the general conclusion of compliance with the IEC 61672-1 specification cannot be drawn.
