Scope: This standard specifies the terms and definitions, principle overview, test equipment, sample preparation, equipment calibration, test procedures, result expression and test report for the determination of thermal decomposition temperature of non-metallic sealing materials. This standard is applicable to the determination of the decomposition temperature and decomposition rate of non-metallic sealing materials, and is also applicable to the determination of the content of volatiles, additives and/or fillers contained in non-metallic sealing materials. Raw materials for non-metallic sealing materials can also be used as a reference. This standard applies to thermogravimetric measurements in dynamic mode (mass change with temperature or time under program conditions) or isothermal mode (mass change with time at constant temperature).
