Scope
This standard specifies the operational and performance requirements for spectral analysis-based portal monitoring systems for the detection and identification of illegally transported radioactive material. The portal monitoring system based on spectrum analysis has the ability to detect gamma ray and neutron radiation that may exist in pedestrians, vehicles, containers and luggage in static or dynamic mode, and to identify gamma radionuclides. The operational requirements established by this standard include requirements for radiation detection and identification of gamma radionuclides, as well as requirements related to the expected electrical, mechanical and environmental conditions when the monitoring system is used. The purpose of this standard is to establish a set of performance requirements and give examples of acceptable test methods, and specifies general characteristics, test conditions, radiation characteristics, electrical safety and environmental characteristics to determine whether a monitoring system meets the requirements of this standard. For special applications not specified in this standard (such as special climatic conditions or special detection needs, etc.), additional tests should be carried out. In order to meet or exceed the performance indicators specified in this standard, it is necessary to correctly install the monitoring system, set reasonable operating parameters, provide protection measures for the monitoring system, perform regular system calibration, implement reasonable system response testing and maintenance plans, and check Whether the quality requirements are met and the operators are properly trained.
