This International Standard covers arc stud welding of metallic materials under static and fatigue loading. It specifies the special requirements for stud welding in terms of welding technical expertise, quality requirements, welding instructions, qualification of the welding process, operator testing and testing of production welding instructions. This International Standard is to be used when the manufacturer's proof of the production of welded structures of a certain quality is required. NOTE General quality requirements for fusion bonds on metallic materials are specified in ISO 3834-1, ISO 3834-2, ISO 3834-3, ISO 3834-4 and ISO 3834-5. This International Standard has been developed as a comprehensive reference document for contracts. The requirements can be adopted in full or in part if they are not relevant to the design in question (see Annex B).
