This part of ISO 4064/OIML R 49 applies to the type testing and initial verification of water meters for cold drinking water and hot water, which are defined in ISO 4064-1:2014/OIML R 49-1:2013. The OIML certificates of conformity may be issued to water meters falling within the scope of the OIML certification system, provided that this part complies with ISO 4064/OIML R 49, ISO 4064-1:2014/OIML R 49-1:2013 and ISO 4064 -3:2014/OIML R49-3:2013 shall be applied in accordance with the rules of the system. This part of ISO 4064/OIML R 49 specifies the details of the test program, principles, equipment and procedures used for type testing and initial verification of a type of meter. The provisions of this part of ISO 4064/OIML R 49 also apply to additional equipment if required by national regulations. The provisions contain requirements for the testing of the complete water meter as well as for the testing of the transmitter (including flow and volume sensor) and the computer (including display device) of water meters as independent units.
