This part of ISO 4064/OIML R 49 specifies the metrological and technical requirements for water meters for cold drinking water and hot water flowing through a fully filled, closed pipe. These water meters are equipped with devices that display the accumulated volume. In addition to water meters based on mechanical operating principles, this part of ISO 4064/OIML R 49 also applies to devices based on electrical or electronic operating principles and based on mechanical operating principles with electronic devices that are used to measure the volume of cold drinking water and hot water. This part of ISO 4064/OIML R 49 also applies to additional electronic devices. Additional equipment is optional. However, some additional devices regarding the use of water meters may be mandatory in national or international regulations. NOTE National regulations may apply in the countries of application.
