Scope

This standard specifies the classification, message, parameter configuration, very high frequency data link (VDL) access method, display symbols, and considerations for deploying AIS navigation beacons of Automatic Identification System (AIS) beacons. This standard applies to the design, development, deployment and management of AIS navigation aids. Navigators and relevant organizations can refer to it when using AIS navigation aids.
