This document specifies a method for determining the level of insoluble impurities in animal and vegetable fats and oils. If it is undesirable to include soaps (particularly calcium soaps) or oxidized fatty acids as insoluble contaminants, it is necessary to use a different solvent and method. In this case, the procedure must be agreed between the parties involved. Milk and milk products (or fat from milk and milk products) are excluded from the scope of this document.
