This International Standard specifies the technical requirements and a guide for the introduction or revision of standardized reference methods for the analysis (detection or quantification) of microorganisms in products intended for human consumption and animal feed, environmental samples in the field of production and handling Food/feed, and samples from the area of primary production. This International Standard specifies the technical stage (or initial stage) of the introduction of a new standardized reference method or the revision of an existing standardized reference method. In particular, it includes requirements and guidelines for the validation of the procedures to be selected. This International Standard is intended, in particular, by ISO/TC 34/SC 9 and the corresponding body at CEN level, CEN/TC 275, Food analysis - Horizontal methods, Working Group 6 (WG 6), Microbiology of the food chain to be implemented.
