EN ISO 16148:2016 Gas cylinders - Refillable seamless steel gas cylinders and tubes - Acoustic emission examination (AT) and follow-up ultrasonic examination (UT) for periodic inspection and testing
This International Standard specifies methods for the application of acoustic emission testing (AT) and subsequent ultrasonic testing (UT) during the periodic inspection and testing of seamless steel cylinders and bulk cylinders with a capacity of up to 3000 l for compressed and liquefied gases. This testing produces AE findings and locations, which are evaluated by further ultrasound-based examination for a possible notch in the bottle or bulk bottle. In addition to ultrasonic testing, other methods could be used as further testing, but they do not fall within the scope of this International Standard. This International Standard does not apply to composite cylinders. CAUTION - Some of the tests described in this standard involve the use of procedures that could result in a hazardous situation.
