Scope
This part of ISO 14122 describes requirements for fixed ladders that are part of a stationary machine and for the non-powered adjustable parts (e.g. folding, sliding) and moving parts of fixed ladder systems. NOTE 1 "Fixed" accesses are those that are mounted (e.g. by screws, nuts, welding) in such a way that they can only be removed with tools. This part of ISO 14122 specifies minimum requirements that are also applied to access points forming part of a building or structure (e.g. fixed ladders) in which the machine is installed, provided that the main function of this part of the The purpose of the structure is to enable access to the machine. NOTE 2 If no national regulations or standards exist, this part of ISO 14122 can be used for accesses that are outside the scope of this standard. It is intended that this part of ISO 14122 will be used together with ISO 14122-1 for the requirements of fixed ladder systems. The ISO 14122 series of standards as a whole applies to both stationary and mobile machines where fixed access is required. It does not apply to powered access such as elevators, escalators or other devices specifically designed for lifting people between two levels. This part of ISO 14122 does not apply to machines manufactured before the publication of this standard.
