Scope
This part of ISO 14405 introduces the default linear size specification operator (see ISO 17450-2) for linear size measures and defines a number of special linear size specification operators for size measure elements, e.g. E.g. "cylinder", "sphere", "torus"1) "circle", "two parallel opposing planes" or "two parallel opposing straight lines". It also establishes the specification modifiers and drawing references for these linear size dimensions. This part of ISO 14405 covers the following linear size measures: a) local size measure: ——two-point size measure; ——spherical size measure; ——cross-sectional size measure; ——Partial area size measure; b) global size measure; ——direct global linear size measure; ——Least squares size measure; ——largest recorded size; ——smallest circumscribed size measurement; ——Minimax size measurement; ——indirect global linear size measure; c) calculated size measure; ——circumferential diameter; ——area-related diameter; ——volume-related diameter; 1) A torus is a size dimension element when its directrix diameter is fixed. d) ranking size measure; ——largest size measurement; ——smallest size measurement; ——average of the size measure; ——median value of the size measure; ——Average of the largest and smallest dimensions; ——Range of size measurements; ——Standard deviation of size measurements. This part of ISO 14405 specifies linear size tolerances for the following; ——a + and/or - limit deviation (e.g. 0/-0.019); ——an upper limit of size (ULS) and/or a lower limit of size (LLS) (e.g. 15.2 max., 12 min. or 30.2/30.181); ——an ISO tolerance code according to ISO 286-1 (e.g. 10 h6); with or without modifier(s). This part of ISO 14405 provides a number of tools to express different types of size dimensional characteristics. It does not contain any information about the relationship between a function or use and a size characteristic.
