This International Standard specifies how the welding procedure specification (WPS) is qualified for production welds of cast steel. Conditions for carrying out the qualification of process tests and the limits of the validity of a qualified welding procedure for all practical welding activities in the area of the basic influencing variables are defined. It is intended that the tests will be carried out in accordance with this International Standard unless additional tests are specified by the customer or by agreement between the Parties. This International Standard applies to arc welding of cast steel. The principles of this International Standard may also be applied to other fusion welding processes if there is an appropriate agreement between the Parties. In order to better inform the customer, more comprehensive tests than those listed in this International Standard may be required by the customer for certain application, material or manufacturing conditions, e.g. B. Longitudinal tensile tests on the weld seam, bending tests, chemical analyses, ferrite determination in austenitic stainless steels, elongation, Charpy V-notch impact bending tests and radiographic measurements.
