This standard specifies the method for the determination of the compressive stress-strain properties of vulcanized rubber or thermoplastic rubber. This standard specifies two methods: . A. The metal plate applying the compressive force is lubricated with a lubricant; b. A metal plate to which a compressive force is applied is bonded to the specimen. The results obtained by the two methods are not necessarily the same. For method a, if it can be fully lubricated, the test result is only related to the modulus of the rubber, but not to the shape of the sample. However, effective lubrication is often difficult to achieve. For the same sample, due to its different lubrication state, it will affect the test results. For method b, the test results are related to the modulus of the rubber and the shape of the sample. The shape of the sample has a great influence on the test results. This standard applies to the determination of the compressive stress-strain properties of vulcanized rubber or thermoplastic rubber with small permanent deformation. Appendix A gives the extrapolation of test results for non-standard specimens.
