Scope

This standard specifies the design calculations for cylindrical helical springs of circular section. This standard applies to circular cross-section cylindrical helical compression springs, extension springs and cold-rolled cylindrical helical torsion springs (hereinafter referred to as springs). This standard does not apply to springs with special-shaped cross-sections, special materials and special properties.
