- This standard applies to waveguide optical modulators in fiber optic modulators. This type of device is a strip waveguide based on a dielectric or semiconductor material. Under the action of an external electric field, the parameters such as the amplitude, phase or polarization of the light transmitted in the waveguide can be changed. This standard specifies the standard optical, mechanical and environmental tests and measurement methods used in the detailed specification for the qualification procedure and qualification approval of waveguide optical modulators.
