This standard specifies specific test methods for the determination of losses and efficiency of AC induction motors within the scope of IEC 60034-1 when supplied by frequency converters. AC induction motors are also part of a variable frequency electrical drive system (PDS) as defined by IEC 61800-2, IEC 61800-4 or IEC/TS 61800-8. The additional harmonic losses determined by this standard are used to compare different motor designs. They are not suitable for determining the efficiency of a PDS with wide range adjustment of torque and speed in a drive equipment.
