- This standard specifies the general performance requirements for all measuring relays and protective devices used in the electrotechnical field covered by IEC. This standard does not apply to relays used in the following electrical fields: a. Telecommunications (telegraph, telephone) systems; b. Railway signals, automatic blocking devices and rolling stock electrical systems; c. IEC158 low-voltage control equipment, IEC292 low-voltage motor starters and IEC337 Relays included in control switches (low-voltage switchgear for control and auxiliary circuits, including contact relays).
