Scope

This standard specifies the general requirements, safety requirements, test methods, inspection rules and marking, packaging, transportation and storage of ballasts for discharge lamps such as high-pressure mercury lamps, low-pressure sodium lamps, high-pressure sodium lamps and metal halide lamps. This standard applies to inductive ballasts below 1000V and powered by 50Hz or 60Hz AC power supply. The rated power, size and characteristics of the discharge lamps used with it shall comply with the relevant lamp standards.
