Scope

This standard specifies the general technical requirements and guidelines for the combustion test methods of wires and cables. This standard is applicable to the burning test of electric wire and cable, and can also be used for the burning test of optical cable. This standard should be used together with subsequent sub-standards. The combustion test specified in this standard is suitable for direct contact between the flame and the sample.
