This part of ISO 23953 specifies requirements for the design, characteristics and performance of refrigerated display cabinets for the sale and display of food products. It specifies test conditions and test procedures for demonstrating compliance with these requirements, as well as for the classification of furniture, its labeling and the list of properties to be specified by the manufacturer. It does not apply to vending machines. It also does not apply to storage furniture or furniture intended for, for example, catering purposes or non-retail refrigeration applications, nor do decisions regarding the choice of food types for display in the furniture fall outside the scope of this standard.
