This International Standard specifies requirements for the classification of covered stick electrodes for manual arc welding, wire electrodes for metal arc welding, cored wire electrodes for metal arc welding with and without inert gas, rods for tungsten inert gas welding and rods for gas fusion welding of unalloyed cast iron materials. The classification is based on the chemical composition of the wire electrodes and rods as well as the pure weld metal of coated rod electrodes and cored wire electrodes.
