This International Standard specifies a reference test method for evaluating the relative deterioration in properties of cleanable filter media for industrial use under standardized, simulated test conditions. The primary purpose of the test is to obtain information on the properties of filter media that undergo relative change as a result of exposure to simulated gas conditions over an extended period of time. The focus of this International Standard is on the performance modification of nonwoven filters as they are often used under conditions similar to the test gas conditions described in this International Standard. The results obtained from this test procedure are not intended to predict the full characteristics of complete filter systems. Nevertheless, they support the design of pocket filters, the selection and development of suitable cleanable filter media and the identification of appropriate operating parameters.
