- This standard specifies the use of optical metallographic microscope to evaluate the microstructure of ductile iron. This standard specifies the evaluation methods for spheroidization classification, graphite size, pearlite thickness, pearlite quantity, dispersed ferrite quantity, phosphorus eutectic quantity and cementite quantity, and lists the rating chart. This standard is applicable to assess the microstructure of ordinary and low alloy ductile iron as cast, normalized and annealed.
